Three things happen at a Confirmation:
Confirmation and Renewal of Baptism Vows

Baptism, (and Confirmation) is for you if: You have never been baptised (in any Christian Church) or are not sure if you have been baptised
and
You want to confirm your Christain faith

Confirmation is for you if:
You have previously been a member of another church denomination and want to confirm your membership of the Church of England
or
You were baptised as a child and want to confirm your Christian faith and start receiving Holy Communion.

Renewal of Baptism Vows is for you if:
You have previously been confirmed and wish to publicly reaffrim your faith

Attending a group does not commit you to going on to Confirmation.
